Tangotango- Was a celestial woman who fell in love with the great hero Tāwhaki and came to earth to become his wife.

Maui- From creating fire to raising the sky to snare the sun, Maui was a hero whose legacy spanned well over 1000 years while these stories traveled over 4000 miles across the Pacific ocean.

Mahuika- In one tradition Auahi-roa (a comet) married Mahuika – goddess of fire and the grandmother of Māui. Their children were the fingernails of fire on Mahuika's hand. Years later, Māui retrieved the fingernails and planted them in the trees used for making fire.

Haumia Tiketike- In Māori culture, Haumia-tiketike is the god of wild and uncultivated food, especially fern fronds and bracken fern and its edible root, aruhe. Among other creatures, many insects are said to have descended from him.

Hine-nui-te-pō – Great woman of night in Māori legends, is a goddess of night and she receives the spirits of humans when they die. She is the daughter of Tāne Mahuta / Tāne Tuturi and Hine-ahuone. It is believed among Māori that the colour red in the sky comes from her.

Ika-Roa- In Māori mythology, Ikaroa is the long fish that gave birth to all the stars in the Milky Way or the Mother Goddess of all the stars – ornaments of the Sky God. Ika-Roa is also an alternative name for the Milky Way. Ika-roa was also called Mangōroa or Mangōroa i ata.
